Nova Conservation was founded to improve the lives of all website users — students, educators, hobbyists, institutions and researchers. By promoting policies that are all inclusive, diverse and equitable, we are able to provide a unique conservation community.
Our diverse and all-inclusive community helps us accomplish our mission and stay true to our core values. We do our absolute best to ensure all opportunities posted to our site follow these inclusive, ethical guidelines. Any submissions that may be deemed as discriminatory against any individual on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, and/or veteran status will not be approved.
Everyone! Researchers, nonprofits, eco-tourism companies, and other organizations can use Nova to connect with vetted, qualified volunteers. Individuals and groups can use Nova to discover unique excursions, activities, and experiences that contribute to environmental conservation efforts around the globe. While Nova is free to use for volunteers, some experiences and opportunities may cost money. Nova collects a small fee in connection with these postings. Organizations and researchers can post their first few projects for free, and afterwards are charged a small fee per project for Nova’s services.
The founder, Laura Marsh, is a professional biologist who has wanted to connect with like-minded conservationists – professionals and hobbyists — so she decided to create a website to help others! Nova helps connect people that don’t have biology backgrounds to opportunities so they can learn to be better environmental stewards and learn more about how important conservation and wildlife is. Nova also offers a forum for conservationists and hobbyists to communicate and share information to help further conservation and sustainability practices and awareness.
We help environmental researchers and organizations by providing vetted volunteers to aid in their research and conservation projects without adding more stress to their already full schedules. Researchers and organizations have to spend hours interviewing and vet candidates, Nova works to enable organizations and researchers to spend that time on their sustainability and conservation projects. Nova connects qualified volunteers with researchers and organizations based on the requisite experience level, budget and location preference.
We make conservation more accessible to everyone — from all walks of life with all levels of experience — by connecting people to all different types of environmental projects across the globe. We match individuals and groups with ecotourism trips, research opportunities and volunteer experiences that benefit our environment and provide unique, fulfilling educational experiences that inspire a lifetime of conservation.

Ethical eco-voluntour programs provide a meaningful contribution to conservation science, non-profit growth, animal welfare, and science.
Pay to work schemes vs true volunteering programs
Pay to work schemes are unethical, have no scientific or conservation contribution.
Nova Conservation’s ethical programs provide the participant with tangible skills that they can add to a resume if they choose: ie foreign language, construction, data analysis, field skills, etc.
Pay to Work programs which only accept participants to further their finances and force the participant to work an unfair amount, possibly against his/her will, offer nothing to the participant in return.
Nova Conservations Ethical programs provide opportunities for all peoples, regardless of race, income level, ethnicity.
Our Ethical programs respect native cultures and ecosystems.
